How do I plan the platform that is at the top of a spiral staircase?
<p>To begin with, is it important which way to go on the stairs, down or up, or both? If it is a pure escape staircase, no space is needed to be able to stand and open the door from the outside. Then the only need is a platform that provides a safe first step outside the door before you step further down the stairs. However, if the stairs are to be used in both directions, it is important that the platform gives you room to stand when you have to open the door from the outside, so that you do not have to stand down on the stairs. In other words, a platform for a staircase you are going up requires a larger platform than a pure escape staircase.</p>
